FLEETWOOD, John H. - Bell Farm employee
John H. Fleetwood (1859-19__), was born in Lincoln, England, and studied to become a bookbinder. He later served for four years with the 13th Hussars in Indian. In 1885 he moved to Winnipeg, where he worked for three months before moving on to Indian Head, where he worked for about six months as a teamster on the Bell Farm.
From 1886 to 1889 he worked as a section foreman with the Canadian Pacific Railway.
In late 1889 Fleetwood moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where he worked in the mines of the Northwest Coal and Irrigation Company, later moving into the company's railway department until 1896, when he became Superintendent of Waterworks with the City Of Lethbridge, a position he held until 1912. Fleetwood also served on City Council and on the School Board, and took a position as Secretary of Schools in 1912.
