LEECH, Philip, Pauline and Ernie - Bell Farm employee
Philip worked on the Bell Farm in the 1890s. - Philip Leech (1867-1958) was born in England, and migrated to Canada in 1891, and soon began working on the Bell Farm, where he stayed for the next seven years, only leaving when the Farm was sold. Philip married Pauline Fisher of nearby Lebret shortly after he left the Bell Farm. In 1903 the Leech family moved to a homestead in the Baring district, where they raised 10 children. In that location, Philip was elected to the RM of Chester council, and served as Reeve for three years. Pauline died in 1919 during the Spanish Flu epidemic. Philip then married Ellen Shields in 1920, and added three more children to the already large family. He remained on his farm until his death in 1958.
