LEACOCK, Edward Philip - British-Welsh Tenant Farmers Guid
Edward Philip Leacock (1853-1927) was born on the Isle of Wight, and moved to Canada in 1979. He was a businessman and politician. Leacock was a member of the Manitoba Legislature from 1879 until 1888.
Leacock married Georgina Eliza Vickers in 1881, and they had three children.
E.P. Leacock reportedly joined the North-West Mounted Police, from which he retired as a Colonel. He also served on the Government side during the North-West Rebellion of 1885, as Paymaster of the Winnipeg 92nd Light Infantry.
Due to his Conservative political support, he was commissioned to lead the 1993 Tenant Farmer delegate tour during their travels through western Canada.
While most of the delegates published their reports and promoted the Canadian North West back home in the United Kingdom, there is no evidence that Leacock submitted any report of his role in this excursion.
