LAURIE, Major General John Wimburn - Travelled with the British Association in 1884
Major General Laurie (1835-1912) attended the Montreal meeting of the British Association and presented a paper on the agricultural resources of Nova Scotia.
During the North-West Rebellion of 1885, Laurie was put in charge of the government's transportation forces stationed at Swift Current. He was in regular communication with Major Bell, his counterpart at Qu'Appelle.
