Register entry 301 - Booth Waddington - British Farm Delegate

Booth Waddington was born around 1848 at Bingley, Yorkshire, England. He married Mary Ann Margerison in 18__; and they had four children. Mary Ann died in 1886 at age 41.

In 1893, the Canadian Government invited 14 British and Irish Farm Delegates to visit Canada and see for themselves what opportunities existed here for farmers wanting to migrate to this country. Booth Waddington, of Bolehill Farm, Wingerton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, was among this group and visited the Bell Farm on Sept. 20, 1893. Only six of those delegates signed the Bell Farm Visitors Register.

Mr. Alex Fraser's Report states that on Sept. 9, 1893 at Minnedosa, he and the other delegates met up with Booth Waddington, J.J. Guiry and R.H. Faulks and that this party of eight "continued together until we broke up on our way home".

While others published reports that spoke of their visit to the Farm, no report from Waddington has yet been found.
