HOUGHTON, Charles F.
Bell Farm Investor
Lt. Col. Charles F. Houghton was an Irishman who served with both the British and Canadian military. After retiring from farming in British Columbia, Houghton was elected to the House of Commons. He later was transferred by his military unit to Winnipeg, Manitoba and participated in the North-West Rebellion of 1885, but apparently did not get along with General Middleton.
In 1884 Houghton was listed as one of the 20 initial investors in the Qu'Appelle Valley Farming Company.
