1920s - Frank Holden family
After the Bell Farm broke up in 1896, Ben Holden and his wife Emma (Roscoe) bought a large portion of land north of Indian Head and established a farm there, called the Jubilee Farm. In 1917, they also bought the Bell Farm home quarter, and in 1923 converted the round stone horse stable into a cow barn. That renovation included enlargement of the barn’s small square windows and replacement of the central lookout cupola with a silo.
However, it was not until about 1949 that their son Frank and his wife Winnifred moved onto that site and built a new bungalow between the old Bell Farmhouse and the round stone barn, where they resided until Frank’s death in 1959. It was between 1949 and 1955 that the massive two-storey stone Bell farmhouse was demolished.
