Dickin, William and Elizabeth - Bell Farm employees
William Bromley Dickin (1858-1937) was born in England; while Elizabeth Marshall Blythe (1856-1945) wa born in Ireland. They were married In Toronto, Ontario on Nov. 23, 1881, and then moved to the West in 1882 to the end of the rail line: Rapid City, Manitoba. From there they came by ox cart to the Bell Farm, where they worked for a while.
After leaving the Bell Farm, William and Lizzie Dickin moved east to the Blackwood District, near Sintaluta, to live on their own homestead. William became postmaster of the Blackwood Post Office in 1903.
William and Elizabeth had five children: Walter, Elwood, Vera, Lloyd and Mary. Elwood died on Nov. 14, 1918, during the Spanish Flu epidemic.
