ROBSON, Rev. Alex - Presbyterian minister at Indian Head
Rev. Alex Robson (1843-1919) was born in North Dumfries, Waterloo County, Ontario. He moved to present-day Saskatchewan in 1883, where he settled at Wolseley and helped build its Presbyterian Church. In1884 he returned to Ontario and married Mary Morton (1846-1921) on June 16, 1884. The Robsons later settled in Fort Qu’Appelle, and moved to Indian Head from 1894 to 1898.
Although no documentation has yet been found of his formally visiting the Bell Farm, he undoubtedly saw Major and Katherine Bell at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Sundays as they were both Presbyterians, and Mrs. Bell was registered in the congregation.
While at Indian Head, Rev. Robson published a semi-monthly regional newspaper called Prairie Witness.
Shortly after the turn of the 20th century, the Robsons moved north of the Farm to Abernethy. After Rev. Robson retired, he and Mary moved back to Indian Head, where he died in 1919, and she in 1921. They are buried in the Indian Head Cemetery.
