Visited the Bell Farm in July 1885 - Captain S. Lawrence Bedson selected the site of the Stoney Mountain prison and ran the institution. As Chief Transport Officer for Middleton in 1885, he would have been in regular contact with Major Bell, who was also assigned to transport responsibilities by Middleton. Bedson was also a wildlife enthusiast and kept a large herd of buffalo. He visited the Bell Farm on July 24, 1885. Part of his herd he later sold to Major Bell who planned on breeding them with cows.
