Register entry 095 - Gerard Finch Dawson

Visited the Bell Farm between Sept. 3 and 14, 1884 - Gerard Finch Dawson (1840-1886) was a member of the British Association, and travelled with his wife and daughter on their trip across Canada. He was a solicitor in Leicester and lived at "Quorn Place" a house C.W. Martin (Charles William Martin) lists as his place of residence in England. Martin was the owner of "Quorn Place"- now a pub. During their trip to Canada in 1884, the Dawsons visited Martin, the summertime manager of the Sheep Creek Ranche, later known as the Quorn Ranch, west of Okotoks, Alberta.

Dawson had a large family and all eventually emigrated from England, with one locating in Canada.
