Michael Houston, a Bell Farm investor, was a lawyer and police magistrate in Chatham, Ontario. His wife, Harriet Northwood and father-in-law William Northwood were also investors.

Houston served on Chatham's municipal council, and made headlines in 1913 when he accused the mayor of trying to bribe him off council and out of the city.
