Celebrating the Life of Major W.R. Bell
(May 28, 1845 – February 17, 1913)

On February 17, 1913, Major W.R. Bell died suddenly in Winnipeg. Now, a century later, we reflect on the impact and contributions which Major Bell had on various aspects of Canadian history. During the course of his lifetime Major Bell wore many hats, both literally and figuratively, and in this centennial year we can focus on some of those in a more specific manner. Throughout the year a series of articles will be added to the website by people who bring a particular perspective to the history of Major Bell. This will include topics such as: his family, colleagues, business associates, sporting associates, employees and /or the Bell Farm and Canadian agriculture, as well as various other intriguing ventures with which he was associated. No topic will be excluded.
